Post new Pagerduty incident details to Cisco Webex Teams space and Slack channel

  1. Set up Pagerduty ‘Incident Triggered’ trigger

This workflow fetches the details of any new incident created in your Pagerduty account, and sends the details of the incident to a Cisco Webex Teams space as well as a channel on Slack.

To set up this workflow, you will need to use the following:

    • Pagerduty ‘Incident Triggered’ trigger
    • Cisco Webex Teams ‘Post New Message’ action
    • Slack ‘Post Message to Channel’ action

Configure the 'Start' icon. Double click on the 'Start' icon and select the 'Pagerduty' service icon from the list of trigger service icons that appear.

A 'Pagerduty' trigger configuration window will appear on screen. Enter details in this window, as given below:

Trigger Label: Enter a suitable name for the trigger.

Connect to Pagerduty: Select/create the Pagerduty authorization you want to use.

Select Trigger: Select ‘Incident triggered’ from the options available in the drop-down list. This instructs the flow to trigger whenever a new incident is triggered in a particular service in your Pagerduty account.

Service ID: Enter the ID of the service for which the trigger is to be set. In Pagerduty, the service ID could be found in the URL of the service. E.g.: PQQB1HE

Once you have entered all the details, click on 'Save'. You will be redirected to the 'Test Trigger' window where you can test the trigger with real-time data to use it to configure the rest of the workflow or skip testing and use mock data to configure the rest of the workflow.

After this, click on 'Done' to return to canvas.

  2. Add and configure Cisco Webex Teams 'Post New Message' action

Add Cisco Webex Teams ‘Post New Message’ action to the canvas. Connect this action with the ‘Start’ icon (which now displays ‘Pagerduty’ icon), and configure it.

On the configuration page, you will notice a few fields. Enter values in the fields as per the instructions given below.

Authorize Cisco Webex Teams: Select/create the Cisco Webex Teams authorization you want to use.

Space ID: Select/specify the ID of the space on which you want to post the message.

Message: Specify the message that you want to post on the space. In this case, we will enter a custom message, along with the output of Pagerduty trigger.

Connect this action to the 'Stop' icon.

  3. Add and configure Slack 'Post Message to Channel' action

Add Slack ‘Post Message to Channel’ action to the canvas. Connect this action with the ‘Start’ icon (which now displays ‘Pagerduty’ icon), and configure it.

On the configuration page, you will notice a few fields. Enter values in the fields as per the instructions given below.

Authorize Slack: Select/create Slack authorization you want to use

Select Channel Type: Select the type of channel you want to send the message to. Available options are ‘Public’, ‘Private Group’, and ‘Direct Messages’.

Channel ID or Channel Name: Select/specify the ID or name of the channel on which you want to post the message.

Text: Specify the message that you want to send to the channel. In this case, we will enter a custom message, along with the output of Pagerduty trigger.

For this example tutorial, no details need to be entered in the other fields.
